The topic that I have chosen to do for the research paper is
homosexual theatre. I think that this is a good topic to inform myself and
others about because of the, sometimes, negative stereotypes that are
associated with the actors that comprise companies. The issue of gay rights and
the effort to make same-sex marriage legal is a rising issue in society that
needs to be addressed. Like all other issues of civil rights, media contributes
working towards a solution through means of propaganda and through spreading
awareness.
I am still working on the wording of the thesis but my paper will address a brief history of homosexuality throughout theatre (like Shakespeare and other classics), the GLAAD awards, and also an analysis of a LGBT theatre company which I am still researching to find the specific group.
